용기, 신념, 지혜
젊었을 때는 용기가 있어야 하고, 장년기에는 신념이 있어야 하며, 늙어서는 지혜가 필요하다. 자제해야 할 욕망을 위한 용기 같은 것은 진정한 용기가 아니다. 선한 의지와 고상한 목표를 위한 용기가 있어야 한다. 무엇이 선이고 무엇은 악이라는 윤리적 신념이 있어야 한다. 뚜렷한 삶의 목표와 목적을 위한 확고한 신념이 있어야 한다. 물러나고 물려주는 지혜가 있어야 한다. 죽을 때까지 직책이나 지위를 가지려하지 않는 지혜가 있어야 한다. 지적인 후퇴를 방지하는 지혜가 있어야 한다.
