الفصل السادس : إخلاء « الرياء » رأينا فيما سبق كيف ينبغي لنا أن نخلي ذواتنا من الكبرياء الذي يدفع الإنسان إلى رفع نفسه فوق الله، ومن الطمع الذي لا يكتفي بالله بل يطلب باستمرار أن يمتلك المزيد . والآن ننتقل إلى خطية عميقة أخرى، هي « الرياء » . الرياء هو الرغبة في أن نظهر أمام الناس بصورة تختلف عن حقيقتنا . فهو أن نحمل في داخلنا أفكارًا ومشاعر معينة، بينما نتصرف في الخارج وكأننا لا نحملها، وأن نهتم بتقييم الناس لنا أكثر من اهتمامنا بنظر الله إلينا، فنزيّن إيماننا بحسب ما نريد أن يراه الآخرون . لذلك فإن إخلاء الذات من الرياء لا يبدأ بمحاولة الظهور أمام الناس كمسيحيين أفضل . بل يبدأ بأن ننظر إلى حقيقتنا أمام الله بكل صدق، من دون أن نخفي شيئًا . قد نستطيع أن نخدع الناس . وقد نستطيع، إلى حدّ ما، أن نتحكم في الصورة التي يراها الآخرون عنا . لكن لا ينفع أي قناع أمام الله، لأن الله لا يرى فقط ما يظهر ...
The Victory community of faith, love and hope “We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father” (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3). Today, I want to give thanks to God for the 30th anniversary celebration of our Victory Presbyterian Church. As we worship God together, I want to think about what kind of victory community we should be. I would like to receive three lessons from 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3. First, the Victory community must become a community of faith. What kind of community is the community of faith? The community of faith is the community that hears the word of Christ.
