자발적으로 우리 각자의 십자가를 달게 지고 예수님을 따라야 합니다 . 로마 군인들은 예수님을 십자가에 못박으려고 끌어 나가다가 구레네 사람 시몬을 만나 “ 강제로 ” 를 붙잡아 그로 하여금 “ 억지로 ” 예수님의 십자가를 지고 가게 하였습니다 ( 마태복음 27:31-32; 마가복음 15:21, 현대인의 성경 ). 예수님의 말씀이 생각납니다 : “ 누구든지 나를 따라 오려거든 자기를 버리고 제 십자가를 지고 나를 따르라 ”( 마태복음 16:24, 현대인의 성경 ). 이 말씀대로 우리는 예수님을 따라가는 예수님의 제자들로서 억지로가 아니라 자발적으로 우리 각자의 십자가를 달게 지고 예수님을 따라야 합니다 . 결코 예수님은 우리로 하여금 강제로 우리의 십자가를 지게 하시는 분은 아니십니다 .
