Worship-witnesses (Romans 12:1-2)

Worship-witnesses           [Romans 12:1-2]     What is your life purpose?   What are you living for?   In the book “Purpose Driven Life” by Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, he says there are 5 benefits to living a purpose driven life (Warren):   (1)    The first benefit is that knowing purpose gives meaning to life.   Without God there can be no purpose in life, and life without purpose is meaningless.   Without meaning there is no importance or hope.   A young man in his 20s wrote: ‘I must be a failure because I am struggling to become something, but I don't really know what I am trying to become. All I know how to do is live roughly.   One day I will feel that I am beginning to live only when I find my purpose in life.’   Are we living while feeling the meaning of life?   (2)    The second benefit is that life becomes simpler when we know our purp...

WORSHIP

WORSHIP "Worship ...   a reminder that God is at the heart of everything that we do and are.   He is the one for whom and by whom we exist: he is our Creator, our Redeemer, and our Sustainer.   The Lord is our Rock and our Refuge, our Shepherd and our Savior.   ...   In worship we turn our hearts away from ourselves and our preoccupations and toward our true center, God himself, experiencing and enjoying his presence in our midst.   That worship, the enjoyment of who God is and his favor toward us in Christ, is to be what we seek above all things."   ( Iain M. Duguid, " NUMBERS: GOD'S PRESENCE in the WILDERNESS")

What is worship?

What is worship? "... worship is 'the work of acknowledging the greatness of God.'   This definition implies that worship is for the sake of God, not ourselves. ...   The definition also implies that worship is active, not passive: the work of acknowledging God's greatness.   ...   In Scripture, the language of worship is used both broadly and narrowly.   In the narrow sense, worship is what we do when we gather to honor God's greatness (Heb.10:25).   In the broader sense, it is laying down one's own body as a living sacrifice and therefore not being conformed to the world(Rom.12:1-2).   In this sense, all of life is worship (cf. Eph.5:1-2; Phil.4:18; Heb.13:15-16; James 1:26-27)."   (John M. Frame)
