24년만에 처음 들은 재미있는 이야기 미국에 온지 이젠 24 년이 넘었습니다 . 영어에 대한 유학생들이나 초기 이민자들의 영어 때문에 해프닝이나 웃긴 얘기가 한 두개가 아닙니다 . 전 솔직히 누군가 이들의 영어 해프닝에 대한 책을 만들어서 한국에서 출판한다면 히트를 칠 것 같다는 생각이 있습니다 . 그런데 요번 주에 서현교회 대학부 김혜정 자매가 보스턴 유학생활을 하는 중에 있었던 해프닝을 얘기해 주는데 제가 24 년만에 처음 들은 해프닝이어서 나눔니다 . 혜정이의 아는 유학생 언니가 있는데 하루는 택시를 타고 어디를 가야해서 길가에서 아마 손을 흔들고 차를 세웠나 봅니다 . 그런데 그 차는 택시가 아니라 경찰차였다고 합니다 . 자신있게 손을 흔들고 경찰차를 세운 후 차 뒷문을 열고 탔나봅니다 . 그랬더니 경찰관이 차고 있는 총에 손을 얹어 놓았다고 합니다 . 그러구 이 혜정이 아는 언니가 목적지 주소를 경찰관 ( 택시 운전사로 알고 있었겠지요 ) 에게 영어로 말했다고 합니다 . 참 재미있는 자매가 아닐 수 없습니다 . 이러한 해프닝은 처음이어서 신선한 웃음을 저에게 선사했었습니다 . 오늘 하루 한 번 웃어봅시다 . 주님 안에서 , 젬스 목사 나눔 (2004 년 5 월 16 일 )
