천국 시민이요 미국 시민인 "동전 목사님"의 책임?       악한 포도원 농부 비유가 자기들을 가리켜 한 말인 줄 알고 예수님을 잡으려고 했으나 군중들이 두려워 예수님을 잡지 못하고 그냥 가 버렸던 대제사장들과 율법학자들 ( 서기관들 ) 과 장로들은 어떻게 해서든지 구실을 붙여 예수님을 잡으려고 바리새파 사람들과 헤롯 당원 중 몇 사람을 예수님께 보내 이렇게 물어보게 하였습니다 : “선생님 , 우리가 알기에 선생님은 진실하셔서 사람의 겉모양을 보지 않으시고 진리대로 하나님의 교훈을 가르치시기 때문에 누구에게도 거리낌이 없으십니다 .   그런데 로마황제에게 세금을 바치는 것이 옳습니까 , 옳지 않습니까 ?   우리가 바쳐야 합니까 , 바치지 말아야 합니까 ? ”   그러나 예수님은 그들의 위선을 아시고 “왜 나를 시험하느냐 ?   데나리온 하나를 가져와 내게 보여라”하고 말씀하셨습니다 .   그들이 그것을 가져오자 예수님은 “이 초상과 글이 누구의 것이냐 ? ”하고 물으셨습니다 .   그들이 “황제의 것입니다”하고 대답하자 예수님이 “황제의 것은 황제에게 , 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바쳐라”하고 말씀하셨습니다 .   그래서 그들은 예수님의 말씀을 듣고 말문이 막혀 버렸습니다 ( 마가복음 12:12-17, 현대인의 성경 ).   저는 이 말씀을 마태복음 22 장 15-22 절과 누가복음 20 장 19-26 절 현대인의 성경 말씀과 연관해서 묵상할 때 오늘은 예수님께서 “데나리온 하나를 가져와 내게 보여라” [“ 세금으로 바치는 돈을 내게 보여라 ”( 마태복음 22:19, 현대인의 성경 )] 하고 말씀하시자 바리새파 사...

“You are the man!”             “Nathan then said to David, ‘You are the man! …’” (2 Samuel 12:7a).                         I often find myself realizing things belatedly when reflecting on my own actions.   Of course, one of those realizations is the grace of God.   Only after some time has passed do I come to realize God's guidance, assistance, and provision.   Another thing I tend to realize belatedly is that I have spoken beyond what was appropriate.   Especially after engaging in various conversations with someone, upon later reflection, I recognize that the content of the conversation applies to me as well, and I realize that I spoke as if I were discussing someone else.   For instance, not too long ago, after a church meeting, during dinner, I had a conversation with a few pastors.   Even in reviewing the...

Husband’s sin         "to bring Queen Vashti before the king with her royal crown in order to display her beauty to the people and the princes, for she was beautiful" ( Esther 1:11).                    We have entered an era where we cannot deny the falling authority of husbands.   When considering the underlying causes, I think there are two main factors.   Firstly, it is feminism.   While it may seem and indeed be true that women's rights have been restored on the surface, I believe that fundamentally, the restoration of women's rights, due to its deviation from biblical principles, has become the "medicine" for the husband's declining authority, which is the "disease".   Secondly, I think the husband's irresponsibility is the cause of the declining authority of husbands.   I believe this is because our husbands, as fathers and heads of househo...

Day 1: John 17:15-17   The problem of sin     I throw a question: Can we truly call someone a saint who does not wrestle with the issue of sin?   The reason is that the term 'saint' signifies one who is set apart from the sinful world.   The responsibility of a saint is to separate themselves from the sinful world.   In other words, a saint is meant to live a life separated from sin.   Just as water and oil cannot mix, so too, as children of light, saints should not be yoked with the darkness of the world.   In order to live in this way, we saints must have a clear sense of belonging.   We do not belong to this world (Jn. 17:16), but we belong to the Lord who is the Light.   We must never forget this.   Furthermore, in order to avoid falling into evil, we must pray like Jesus (v. 15) and strive to be sanctified by the truth (v. 17).   If we neglect this, we should fear God's discipline, for because God loves us, He wi...

The problem of sin       [Nehemiah 9:1-5]     Pastor Dong-won Lee said in his book ‘Acts of Repentance’: ‘As a layman, C.S. Professor Lewis diagnosed the era we live in as an era in which the spirit of seeking has been lost’ (Lee).  One of the proofs is that modern people no longer have a serious approach to sin.  It means that there are not that many people who are troubled and in pain because of their sins, and who shed tears to try to overcome their sins.  That is why there are so many believers who do not experience the thrill of being saved from sin or the joy of overcoming sin.   What do you think of this word?  Are we worried about our sins?  Are we struggling to overcome our sins?  Now fewer and fewer believers are humbly listening to sermons pointing out sin.  Now the word “sin” may be in danger of disappearing.  As 2 Timothy 4:3 says, “the time will come.”  That time is none other than the time when peo...

Slaves to obedience           [Romans 6:15-23]     Last week, during a wedding service for a couple in our church's English ministry, I gave three recommendations under the title of the sermon titled “By Faith,” centered on Hebrews 11:23-26.   One of those three exhortations was to have higher values by faith, refuse to enjoy the sinful pleasures of the world, but choose to be mistreated and to suffer for Jesus Christ.   I took Moses as an example.   What did Moses do with faith?   He made the right choice “by faith”.   Moses made the right choice with faith in the choice between to be called the son of Pharaoh's princess (v. 24) or to be called the son of God, to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a short time (v. 25) or to suffer with the people of God (v. 25), to choose all the treasures of Egypt or suffering disgrace for the sake of Christ (v. 26).   In this way, faith makes the right choice on the path o...

We ought to just talk about the love of God.” This comment was not made by a dedicated liberal. Rather, it was made by a woman who is a member of an evangelical church and has enrolled her children in a Reformed Christian School. She does not seem to have grasped much of the character of Calvinism. Regrettably this comment is not just a strange aberration. In a recently published book, sociologist Alan Wolfe argues that this attitude is wide-spread throughout American religious groups and denominations, including evangelicals.
