Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. 오직 하나님의 은혜로 오직 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭다 하심을 받은 우리 그리스도인들은 하나님과 화평을 누리면서 하나님의 영광에 참여할 희망 가운데서만 즐거워하는 것이 아니라 또한 환난 중에도 즐거워하는 것은 환난은 인내를, 인내는 연단된 인격을, 연단된 인격은 희망을 갖게 한다는 것을 알고 있기 때문입니다.  이 희망은 우리에게 실망을 주지 않습니다(로마서 5:1-5, 현대인의 성경).
