비성경적인 구원론을 가르치고 있었던 어떤 사람들과 심한 논쟁을 했었던 바울과 바나바는 마가라는 요한을 데리고 주님의 말씀을 전한 곳으로 다시 가서 신자들이 어떻게 지내고 있는지 살펴보는 일로 인해 심한 말다툼끝에 서로 갈라졌습니다(사도행전 15:1-2, 36-41, 현대인의 성경).
