둘째로, 우리가 입어야 할 새
사람은 긍휼(compassion)과 자비(kindness)와 겸손(humility)과 온유(gentleness)와 오래 참음(patience)입니다. 골로새서 3장 12절입니다:
“그러므로 너희는 하나님이 택하사 거룩하고 사랑받는 자처럼 긍휼과 자비와 겸손과 온유와 오래 참음을 옷 입고”[(현대인의 성경) “여러분은 하나님이 택하신 사랑받는 거룩한 사람들입니다.
그러므로 불쌍히 여기는 마음과 친절과 겸손과 부드러움과 인내로”]. 여기서 “긍휼”이란 영어 단어로 “compassion”이며 라틴어로는 ‘파티’(pati)와 ‘쿰’ (cum)에서 파생된 말로서 이 두 단어를 합치며 ‘함께 고통 받다’라는 의미가 됩니다. 즉, 긍휼이란
