“ True Believers Like Wheat ” and “ The Wicked Like Chaff ” “John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with water. “ 내 속에 눌리는 일 ” “ 이 외의 일은 고사하고 오히려 날마다 내 속에 눌리는 일이 있으니 곧 모든 교회를 위하여 염려하는 것이라 ”( 고린도후서 11 장 28 절 ). 저는 뭣도 모르고 담임 목사가 되었습니다 . 부목사 경험도 1 년 밖에 되지 않습니다 . 그것도 제가 쭉 자라났던 승리장로교회에서 아버님께서 담임 목사님으로 섬기시고 계실 때 부목사로 딱 1 년 섬긴 경험입니다 . 그리고 저는 그 경험 후 탈진하여 요나처럼 아버님의 말씀에 불순종하고 한국으로 도망갔습니다 . 한국에 가서 서현 교회에서 교육 목사로 , 그것도 영어사역을 섬기다가 나중엔 새 가정부도 좀 섬겼었습니다 . 그것도 다 합쳐서 2 년 9 개월뿐이었습니다 . 물론 담임 목사가 되는데 경험이 다는 아닌 줄은 압니다 . 그저 그만큼 부족한데 주님께서 교회갱신목회자협회 수련회 때 강사 목사님을 통하여 약속의 말씀인 마태복음 16 장 18 절을 주시므로 다시 승리장로교회로 돌아오게 되었습니다 . 그것도 아버님 목사님께서 은퇴하시고 제가 담임목사가 되었습니다 . 그게 벌써 금년 12 월 21 일이면 15 년이 됩니다 . 지난 세월을 생각해 볼 때 언젠가 아내가 저에게 한 말이 잊혀지지 않습니다 – ‘James, you have changed’ ( 제임스 , 당신은 변했습니다 ). 아내는 제가 담임 목사가 된 후 달라졌다고 말했습니다 ....
