A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. Let me clearly summarize five essential principles of true mission as presented in Scripture. 🌍 1. The Mission of God (Missio Dei) The subject and initiator of mission is not human beings but God. In order to save fallen humanity, God first comes to us, sends His Son, and sends the Holy Spirit. He is the “missionary God” who sends. “준비한 처녀들” 열 명의 처녀들이 다 잠이 들고 있는 한밤중에 “자 , 신랑이 온다 . 맞으러 나오너라 ! ”하고 외치는 소리가 들렸습니다 . 그 때 그 처녀들은 다 일어나 저마다 등을 손질했습니다 . 어리석은 다섯 처녀들은 슬기로운 다섯 처녀들에게 “우리 등불이 꺼져가는데 너희 기름을 좀 주겠니 ? ”하자 슬기로운 다섯 처녀들은 “너희에게 기름을 나눠 주면 우리도 모자라고 너희도 모나랄 거야 . 차라리 가게에 가서 사다 쓰지 그러니 ? ”하고 대답했습니다 . 그러나 미련한 처녀들이 기름을 사러 간 사이에 신랑이 왔고 그래서 준비한 처녀들은 신랑과 함께 결혼 잔치에 들어가고 문은 닫혔습니다 ( 마태복음 25:5-10, 현대인의 성경 ). 저는 이 말씀을 묵상할 때 “준비한 처녀들”이란 말씀이 마음에 다가왔습니다 . 우리도 슬기로운 다섯 처녀들처럼 신랑되신 예수님을 맞이할 준비한 신부가 되야 한다는 교훈을 받습니다 . “또 내가 보매 거룩한 성 새 예루살렘이 하나님께로부터 하늘에서 내려오니 그 준비한 것이 신부가 남편을 위하여 단장한 것 같더라” ( 요한계시록 21:2).
