We are taught that we must become upright people who, in God’s sight, are blameless and fully keep His commandments. “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly” [(Modern Translation: “When Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijah, and his wife Elizabeth also came from the family of Aaron. They were righteous before God and faithfully kept all the Lord’s commandments and regulations without fault”)] (Luke 1:5–6). Joyce 성도님의 소천 소식을 접한 후 ... 2020년 2월 16일 주일 오후. 주님께서 인도해주셔서 저희 교회에서 교회 이웃 양로원을 매달 셋째주 마다 섬기고 있습니다. 그런데 오늘 주일 조금 전에 아내가 양로원에서 저에게 문자가 왔는데 그 양로원에 Joyce라는 분이 passed away(소천)하셨다고 알려줬습니다. 그 Joyce라는 외국인 성도님은 작년 2019년 10월 20일에 저희 교회 교육 목사님을 통해 신앙 고백 후 세례를 받으셨던 분이십니다. 그런데 이렇게 신앙 고백하시고 세례받으신지 4달 만에 주님의 품에 안기셨습니다. 조금 전 아내가 양로원에 다녀와서 저에게 하는 말을 들어보니 그 Joyce란 분은 양로원에 계시다가 아파서 병원에 가서 돌아가셨는데 유가족이 오빠라는 분이 계신가 본데 그 분도 다른 양로원에 계시다는 것 같습니다. 느낀 점은 양로원에 계신 외국인 분들은 세상적으로 보면 외롭게 돌아가시는 것 같습니다. 아내의 말로는 Joyce란 분하고 제일 친했던 Patricia란 분이 친구 Joyce란 분을 많이 보고 싶어하시면서 아마 제 아내에게 이젠 자기가 죽을 차례라고 말씀하셨다고 하네요 (참고로 Patricia란 분은 작년에 Joyce란분이 10월에 세례를 받으신 후 11월에 두 번째로 그 양로원에서 세례를 받으신 성도님이심). 우리의 소망은 오직 예수 그리스도이십니다.!
