I want to live according to my name.     "The wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever" (Daniel 12:3).   This Bible verse holds great significance for me. The reason is that my father gave me the name "Jee Woun" (which means number one in wisdom) and shared this Bible verse with me. However, I had previously focused only on the aspect of "turning many to righteousness" in this verse.   Yet, just recently, while exercising and memorizing a Bible verse for church, I gained a new insight from Isaiah 58:10. The revelation is that I, Jee Woun, should live a life reflecting the illuminated life of Jesus by empathizing with the hungry and satisfying the needs of the afflicted, as mentioned in Isaiah 58:10.

  Let's focus on God's sufficient grace rather than the thorn in our flesh. I pleaded with God countless times over the years to remove "the thorn in my flesh," but God responded, saying, "My grace is sufficient for you." While I desired the complete removal of "the thorn in my flesh," God allowed it for the purpose of preventing me from becoming excessively proud. If I didn't have this thorn in my flesh, how much more arrogant might I have become? From now on, instead of focusing on "the thorn in my flesh," I want to direct my attention to God's sufficient grace, generously bestowed upon me in the midst of that thorn. I humbly aim to embrace and enjoy God's abundant grace, acknowledging not only my weaknesses but also boasting in them, so that I may experience God's power even more (2 Cor. 12:7-9).

When my soul is weary within me     When my soul was weary within me, I cried out to God in distress (Ps. 107:5-6). I resisted God's word and despised the counsel of the Most High (v. 11). Folly led me to follow the path of rebellion and commit iniquity (v. 17), so God afflicted me with suffering to humble my heart (v. 12). In times of despair, when there was no one to help me up (v. 12), I cried out to God in my pain and distress (vv. 13, 19, 28).   During those moments, God sent His word to heal me (v. 20), rescued me from trouble and danger (vv. 6, 13, 19, 20), guided me out of my distress (vv. 14, 28), and led me on the right path (v. 7). God calmed the storms of my life, bringing peace and tranquility (v. 29).   God satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness (v. 9). Therefore, I will praise God for His lovingkindness and the miracles He has performed in my life (vv. 8, 15, 21, 31).

짧은 말씀 묵상       주님은 제일 좋은 포도나무를 심으신 후 좋은 포도가 맺히기를 기다리십니다 .   주님은 우리가 공정하고 옳은 일과 선한 일을 하기를 바라고 기대하십니다 .   그런데 지금 고통당하는 자들의 부르짖는 소리만 나고 있는 것은 아닌지요 ?   주님께서 우리에게 “ 내가 내 포도원을 위해서 이 이상 더 어떻게 하란 말인가 ?” 라고 말씀하고 계십니다 ( 참고 : 이사야  5 :2, 4, 7, 현대인의 성경 )   우리는 주님의 일에 관심을 가지고 주님께서 하신 일을 생각해야 합니다 ( 참고 : 이사야  5 :12, 현대인의 성경 ).   전능하신 하나님은 옳은 일을 행하심으로 그의 위대함을 보이시고 자기 백성을 심판하심으로 그의 거룩함을 나타내실 것입니다 ( 이사야  5 :16, 현대인의 성경 ).   거짓의 줄로 죄를 끌고 다니며 수레처럼 악을 끌고 다니는 자에게 화가 있을 것입니다 ( 이사야  5 :18, 현대인의 성경 ).   스스로 지혜롭고 영리하다고 생각하는 자들에게 화가 있을 것입니다 ( 이사야  5 :21, 현대인의 성경 ).   전능하신 하나님의 계명을 버리고 거룩하신 하나님의 말씀을 무시한 자들은 지푸라기와 마른 풀이 불에 타서 소멸되듯이 그들의 뿌리가 썩고 꽃이 시들어 티끌처럼 날아가 버릴 것입니다 ( 참고 : 이사야  5 :24, 현대인의 성경 ).

화가 있을 것입니다. (2)  스스로 지혜롭고 영리하다고 생각하는 자들에게 화가 있을 것입니다 ( 이사야  5 :21, 현대인의 성경 ).

거룩함을 나타내실 것입니다. 전능하신 하나님은 옳은 일을 행하심으로 그의 위대함을 보이시고 자기 백성을 심판하심으로 그의 거룩함을 나타내실 것입니다 ( 이사야  5 :16, 현대인의 성경 ).

관심을 갖고 생각해야 합니다. 우리는 주님의 일에 관심을 가지고 주님께서 하신 일을 생각해야 합니다 ( 참고 : 이사야  5 :12, 현대인의 성경 ).

Do not rely on your own understanding; trust in the Lord with all your heart.       It was probably in 1989.   It was the first time I received discipleship training from a pastor, and it was during that time I learned about Proverbs 3:5-6, known as the Assurance of God’s Guidance Bible verse: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."   After about 25 years, it was only at the beginning of this year that I, while meditating on this Bible verse, realized that the biggest hindrance to trusting God with all my heart is relying on my own understanding. It is ingrained in my nature to lean on my understanding rather than trust in God. Overcoming this instinct to wholeheartedly trust God goes against my nature. The Bible instructs me to trust God with all my heart, surpassing my own understanding. How can I obey this command...
