God’s love, which is stronger than death, is causing me to continue walking the path of the mission the Lord has given me (John 6:1–15).

God’s love, which is stronger than death, is causing me to continue walking the path of the mission the Lord has given me (John 6:1–15).             “At that very time some Pharisees came and said to Him, ‘Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill You.’   He replied, ‘Go tell that fox, “I will keep driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach My goal.”   In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!   Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.   Look, your house is left to you desolate.   I tell you, you will not see Me again until you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord” (Luke 13:31–35).     ...

“You are the man!” (2 Samuel 12:7a)

“You are the man!”             “Nathan then said to David, ‘You are the man! …’” (2 Samuel 12:7a).                         I often find myself realizing things belatedly when reflecting on my own actions.   Of course, one of those realizations is the grace of God.   Only after some time has passed do I come to realize God's guidance, assistance, and provision.   Another thing I tend to realize belatedly is that I have spoken beyond what was appropriate.   Especially after engaging in various conversations with someone, upon later reflection, I recognize that the content of the conversation applies to me as well, and I realize that I spoke as if I were discussing someone else.   For instance, not too long ago, after a church meeting, during dinner, I had a conversation with a few pastors.   Even in reviewing the...

A jealous eye (1 Samuel 18:9)

A jealous eye               “And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David” (1 Samuel 18:9).                         When I think about “jealousy”, I remember the Korean drama “Jealousy” that was broadcast on MBC in June-July 1992.   The drama includes actor Soo Jong Choi and actress Jin Sil Choi and it was about young people's fresh and heartfelt love stories.   It is said to have been recognized as the epitome of the melodrama that the era demands by containing the pain, waiting, and beauty to realize mature love (Internet).   I still remember dimly a part of the lyrics of the drama's title song “Jealousy”: ‘Who are you looking at even though I'm standing here right here   …   I don't want much.   I just you’re your eyes of love.   Even if I try to convey my heart, your eyes are saying diff...

Father David (1 Chronicles 28:9-10)

Day 21: 1 Chronicles 28:9-10       Father David       As a father, what words of counsel did David give to his beloved son Solomon?  Firstly, Father David told Solomon, 'Know the God of your father' (1 Chron. 28:9).  David said this to Solomon because he wanted to pass on to his son the right knowledge about God.  The correct knowledge he wanted to impart to his son was the fact that their God is a God of covenant.  Father David knew that Solomon desired to know the God of the covenant, for Solomon sought to receive the blessings of prosperity from God (1 Kgs. 2:3).   Secondly, Father David told Solomon, 'Serve your father's God with a whole heart and a willing mind' (1 Chron. 28:9).  Father David desired not only for Solomon to receive the blessings of prosperity from God but also to keep those received blessings.  The key to this was serving the Lord with a whole heart.   Thirdly,...

“Cast your burden upon the Lord”

“Cast your burden upon the Lord”     [Psalms 55]     The world makes us to carry heavy burdens on our minds gradually.  This world can only give us anxiety, worry, sadness, and pain.  But we Christians are laying down heavy burdens before the Lord continually and enjoying the peace that the Lord gives us.  But somehow it seems that we are not good at laying down our heavy burdens.  What do you think is the cause?  I looked up the answer in Pastor Lee's book, ‘Putting it down’: ‘Satan, who is the master of the world, tempts us to keep having it and to keep holding it.’  I agree with this statement.  Satan's work is constantly tempting us to ‘hold on.’  And among the things that Satan tempts us to hold on are 'past baggage', and hurt, pain, bitterness, anxiety, and worry that are heavy burdens on our mind.   But the Bible 1 Peter 5:7 says: “casting all your anxiety on Him, becau...
