“Is anything too hard for the LORD?” “Nothing is impossible with God.” “Zechariah asked the angel, ‘How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.’ The angel said to him, ‘I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time’” (Luke 1:18–20). Meditating on this passage, I want to receive the lessons God gives us: (1) When the angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and said, “Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John…” (Luke 1:13–17), Zechariah’s response was: “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years” [(Modern Translation: “I am old, and my wife is advanced in years. How can such a thing be possible?” he asked)] (v.18). “ 나   여호와에게   불가능한   일이   있겠느냐 ?” “ 하나님에게는   안되는   일이   아무것도   없다. ”     “ 사가랴가 천사에게 이르되 내가 이것을 어떻게 알리요 내가 늙고 아내도 나이가 많으니이다 천사가 대답하여 이르되 나는 하나님 앞에 서 있는 가브리엘이라 이 좋은 소식을 전하여 네게 말하라고 보내심을 받았노라 보라 이 일이 되는 날까지 네가 말 못하는 자가 되어 능히 말을 못하리니 이는 네가 내 말을 믿지 아니함이거니와 때가 이르면 내 말이 이루어지리라 하더라 ”( 누가복음 1:18-20) 하는 말씀을 묵상하면서 주시는 교훈을 받고자 합니다 :   (1)    천사 가브리엘이 사가랴에게 나타나 “ 네 아내 엘리사벳이 네게 아들을 낳아 주리니 그 이름을 요한이라 …”( 눅 1:13-17) 하고 말하였을 때 사가랴의 반응은 “ 내가 이것을 어떻게 알리요 내가 늙고 아내도 나이가 많으니이다 ”[( 현대인의 성경 ) “ 나는 늙었고 내 아내도 나이가 많은데 어떻게 이런 일이 있을 수 있습니까 ?' 하고 묻자 ”] 였습니다 (18 절 ).   저는 이 말씀을 묵상할 때 아브라함과 사라 부부가 생각났습니다 .   그 이유는 그 부부도 사가랴와 엘리사벳 부부처럼 늙고 나이가 많았기 때문입니다 : “ 아브라함은 자기 나이가 백 세가 다 되어 몸은 죽은 것과 다름이 없었고 그의 아내 사라도 나이가 많아 도저히 출산할 수 없는 것을 ….”( 롬 4:19, 현대인의 성경 ).   (a)    아브라함은 하나님께서 그를 ...
