The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 겸손한 마음으로 상대방을 나보다 낫게 여기는 마음으로 그/녀를 인정하고 칭찬하며 높이면 그/녀의 화가 풀릴 수도 있습니다(참고: 사사기
8:1-3; 빌립보서 2:3, 현대인의 성경).
상대방이 우리에게 도움을 청했을 때 우리의 입장에서 그 상대방이 조건을
만족하지 못했다 하여 도움을 거절하기보다 그 상대방의 입장에서 도움을 주므로 우리의 조건을 만족케 하는 것이 더 낫습니다(참고: 사사기 8:4-6, 현대인의 성경).
상대방으로 하여금 임무를 마칠 수 있도록 돕는 것이 그 임무를 아직
못 마쳤다고 도움을 거절하는 것보다 낫습니다(참고: 사사기
8:8-9, 현대인의 성경).
스스로 우리 자신과 우리 집에 올무가 되는 잘못을 범하지 말아야 합니다(참고: 사사기 8:24-27).
기드온이 죽은 후에 이스라엘 백성은 우상 숭배의 죄를 범하였으며, 사방의 모든 원수들에게서 자기들을 구해주신 그들의 하나님도 기억하지 않았고, 또 기드온이 이스라엘을
