For some of us, it’s been a while. In our hard-working, highly productive culture, we can sometimes feel like exhausted swimmers swept downstream in a fast-moving river, fighting to keep our heads above water, gasping for air. We get up early and stay up late. We never waste a minute. Our schedule is full, running here, running there, running late, running to catch up, running on empty, until we collapse in utter exhaustion. Underneath the satisfaction of being hard-working, hard-playing people is a weariness that’s desperate for the pace to relent so we can rest and recharge. 질투는 상대방을 삐뚤게 보게 만듭니다. 질투의 눈으로 다윗을 바라보고 있었던 사울 왕 ( 사무엘상 18:9, 현대인의 성경 ) 은 자기 사위요 자기 신하들 중에 충실한 자요 궁중 모든 사람들에게도 높이 존경을 받는 다윗 (22:14, 현대인의 성경 ) 을 자기를 반역하는 자요 , 자기를 칠 기회만 노리는 자요 , 자기를 죽일 기회만 노리는 자로 여겼습니다 (8, 13 절 , 현대인의 성경 ). 이렇게 질투는 상대방을 그 모습 그대로 정확히 못 보게 만들고 오히려 삐뚤게 보게 만듭니다 .
