We are taught that we must become upright people who, in God’s sight, are blameless and fully keep His commandments. “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly” [(Modern Translation: “When Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijah, and his wife Elizabeth also came from the family of Aaron. They were righteous before God and faithfully kept all the Lord’s commandments and regulations without fault”)] (Luke 1:5–6). While meditating on this passage, I would like to draw out the lessons given to us: (1) The author of Luke’s Gospel, Luke, first wrote to Theophilus about John the Baptist’s parents. 하나님을 온전히 따르고 있는 것일까요? 만일 우리가 하나님을 온전히 따르지 않았던 가나안 땅을 정탐했던 열명의 정탐군들처럼 ( 민 32:11) 이 광야와 같은 세상에서 살아가고 있다면 우리는 큰 문제만 보고 있을 것입니다 . 그리고 우리는 그 큰 문제만 보면서 불평 , 원망하면서 우리 자신 뿐만 아니라 우리 주위에 있는 사람들도 낙심시키고 있을 것입니다 . 그러나 만일 우리가 하나님을 온전히 따랐던 (12 절 ) 여호수아와 갈렙처럼 이 세상에 살아가고 있다면 우리는 육신의 눈으로 보이는 큰 문제가운데서도 믿음의 눈으로 그 큰 문제 속에서도 우리를 충분히 구원해 주실 더 크신 하나님께 초점을 맞추고 믿음으로 생각하고 믿음으로 말하며 믿음으로 행할 것입니다 . 우리도 여호수아와 갈렙처럼 믿음으로 크신 하나님을 바라보면서 믿음으로 말하고 믿음으로 행하므로 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 ( 히 11:6) 하나님을 온전히 따르는 그리스도인이 되길 기원합니다 .
