A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. Let me clearly summarize five essential principles of true mission as presented in Scripture. 🌍 1. The Mission of God (Missio Dei) The subject and initiator of mission is not human beings but God. In order to save fallen humanity, God first comes to us, sends His Son, and sends the Holy Spirit. He is the “missionary God” who sends. 자녀들이 점점 번영하기 위해선 ... [In order for our children to increase (or become greater) ...] (요한복음 3:30, 현대인의 성경) "그분은 점점 번영해야하고 나는 점점 쇠태해야 한다." (John 3:30) "He must increase, but I must decrease"(NASB); "He must become greater; I must become less"(NIV). 요즘 성령님께서 저희 부부에게 가르쳐 주고 계시는 귀한 교훈은 '자녀들은 점점 번영해야 하고 부모는 점점 쇠태해야 한다'는 것입니다.. 성령님께서 이 교훈을 저와 제 아내에게 가르쳐주고 계신데 그 근거는 바로 요한복음 3장 30절 말씀입니다. 세례 요한이 예수님은 점점 번영해야 하고 자기 자신은 점점 쇠태해야 한다고 말했는데 성령님께서는 이 하나님의 말씀을 저로 하여금 생각나게 하시고 묵상케 하시는 가운데 제 아내와 대화를 하게하셨습니다. 그 대화 내용의 핵심은 저와 제 아내가 사랑하는 딜런, 예리, 예은이의 부모로서 그들을 양육(nurture)할 때에 우리의 역할이 그들의 삶 속에서 점점 더 줄어들어야 한다(decrease)는 것이었습니다. 그 말은 좀 더 구체적으로 적용한다면, 우리는 사랑하는 자녀들의 삶 속에 들(less) 개입을 해야 한다는 것입니다. 그 말은 우리는 딜런, 예리, 예은이가 하나님 앞에서 스스로 고민하고 기도하고 결정하도록 내버려두어야(leave the alone) 한다는 것입니다. 그 말은 그들이 우리에게 물어보던지 도움을 청하기 전까지는 믿음의 눈으로 그들을 바라보면서 뒤에서 그들을 위해 하나님께 기도하는게 우리의 역할이지 그들에게 연락을 해서 그들의 삶을 이래라 저래라 가르치는게 아니라는 말입니다. 우리는 그들 스스로 생각하고 고민하고 결정하도록 믿음으로 잠잠히 바라보아야 한다는 것입니다. 그런데 만일 우리가 하...
