What Is Biblical Mission?

A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. Let me clearly summarize five essential principles of true mission as presented in Scripture. 🌍 1. The Mission of God (Missio Dei) The subject and initiator of mission is not human beings but God. In order to save fallen humanity, God first comes to us, sends His Son, and sends the Holy Spirit. He is the “missionary God” who sends. At the time when Moses was born, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt,

commanded the Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah,

'When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth

and observe them on the delivery stool,

if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live'

(Exodus 1:16).

Nevertheless, despite this,

the Israelites continued to multiply and become strong,

so Pharaoh commanded his people,

'Every boy that is born you must throw into the Nile,

but let every girl live' (vv. 20-22).

It was at this time that Moses was born,

and when his parents saw that he was a fine child,

they hid him for three months (Exodus 2:2).

When Moses was born, his parents saw that he was a beautiful child,

and they were not afraid of the king's edict.

They hid him for three months by faith

(Hebrews 11:23).

Parents should raise their children in faith.

This means raising them in obedience to God's commands,

not fearing men but fearing God, and trusting in God.

Without faith, parents cannot raise the gift of children

that God has given them according to God's will.
