Parents must raise their
children in faith.
At the time when Moses
was born, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt,
commanded the Hebrew
midwives Shiphrah and Puah,
'When you help the
Hebrew women in childbirth
and observe them on the
delivery stool,
if it is a boy, kill
him; but if it is a girl, let her live'
(Exodus 1:16).
Nevertheless, despite
this,
the Israelites continued
to multiply and become strong,
so Pharaoh commanded his
people,
'Every boy that is born
you must throw into the Nile,
but let every girl live'
(vv. 20-22).
It was at this time that
Moses was born,
and when his parents saw
that he was a fine child,
they hid him for three
months (Exodus 2:2).
When Moses was born, his
parents saw that he was a beautiful child,
and they were not afraid
of the king's edict.
They hid him for three
months by faith
(Hebrews 11:23).
Parents should raise
their children in faith.
This means raising them
in obedience to God's commands,
not fearing men but
fearing God, and trusting in God.
Without faith, parents
cannot raise the gift of children
that God has given them
according to God's will.
