소망을 잃었던 여인 소망을 잃었던 여인 나오미 ( 룻 1:12), 고향인 유다 베들레헴을 떠나 모압 지방에 가서 (1 절 ) 남편도 잃고 두 아들도 죽으므로 (3 절 ) 그녀에게는 아무 소망이 없었습니다 . 그녀는 늙어서 남편을 둘 수도 없었습니다 (12 절 ). 그러기에 그녀는 아들들도 낳을 수도 없었습니다 (12 절 ). 그런데 결국에 가서 나오미는 그녀를 사랑하며 일곱 아들보다 귀한 그 녀의 며느리인 룻이 낳은 아기를 받아 품에 품고 그 아기의 양육자가 되었는데 그녀의 이웃 여인들이 그 아기에게 이름을 지어 주되 " 나오미에게 아들이 태어났다 하여 그의 이름을 오벳이라 하였 " 습니다 (4:15-17). 아들들도 낳을 수도 없었던 소망이 없었던 여인에게 (1:12) 아들이 태어난 것입니다 (4:17).
