It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. 현숙한 여인 (2) [ 잠언 31 장 10-31 절 말씀 묵상 ] 여러분 , 혹시 ‘ 진주는 아픔의 보석이다 ’ 라는 말을 들어보셨습니까 ? 저는 어느 한 인터넷 기사를 통해 왜 진주가 아픔의 보석인지에 대해 좀 알게 되었습니다 . “ 조개가 먹이활동 , 호흡활동 등 생존을 위한 갖가지 활동을 하는 동안 조개의 체내로 모래 알이나 작은 벌레 등 이물질이 침투하여 살 속을 파고들게 되는데 , 이때 조개는 그 아픔을 이겨내기 위해 분비물을 계속 분비한다고 합니다 . 이물질이 들어와 견딜 수 없는 고통이 시작되면서부터 생명을 지키기 위한 싸움도 시작되고 , 분비물이 얇게 한겹한겹 싸임으로 ‘ 아픔의 결정체 ’ 는 자라난다고 합니다 . 상처를 입을수록 분비물이 분비되어 더욱 크게 자라며 더욱 영롱해지는 보석이기에 진주를 가리켜 ‘ 아픔의 보석 ’ 이라고 한다고 합니다 . 그리고 진주층 , 곧 분비물층이 두꺼울수록 광택은 더욱 아름다워지고 광택과 두께는 진주의 품질을 결정하는 중요한 요소라고 함 . 진주층이 두꺼우며 , 흠집이 없는 것이 바로 ‘ 극상품의 진주 ’ 가 된다고 합니다 ( 인터넷 ). 그래서 예수님께서는 천국에 대한 비유의 말씀을 하시면서 마태복음 13 장 46 절에서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다 : “ 극히 값진 진주 하나를 발견하매 가서 자기의 소유를 다 팔아 그 진주를 사느니라 .” 이렇게 자기의 소유를 다 팔아서 살정도로 극히 값진 것이 진주인데 성경 잠언 8 장 11 절에 “ 대저 지혜는 진주보다 나으므로 원하는 모든 것을 이에 비교할 수 없음이니라 ”[( 현대인의 성경 ) “ 지혜...
