Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. 결코 빈손으로 돌아가게 하지 않으시고 오히려 넘치도록 축복해 주실 것입니다.  비록 우리가 이 세상을 떠날 때에는 빈손으로 떠나겠지만 ( 전도서 5:15, 공동번역 ) 그러나 적어도 이 땅에 사는 동안에 사람들이 ( 심지어 사랑하는 식구가 ) 우리를 빈손으로 돌려보내려고 한다 할지라도 하나님께서는 우리가 시련을 당하며 수고하는 것을 보시고 결코 빈손으로 돌아가게 하지 않으시고 오히려 넘치도록 축복해 주실 것입니다 ( 참고 : 창세기 31:42-43, 현대인의 성경 ).
