The Beauty of a
Christian
When Jesus entered Jerusalem,
a large crowd gathered to celebrate the
Passover.
They went out to meet Him, holding palm branches
and shouting,
"Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the
Lord,
even the King of Israel!" (Jn. 12:13).
Here, the palm branches symbolize righteousness,
beauty, and victory.
The large crowd regarded Jesus as the victorious
King of Israel,
expecting Him to bring about political
liberation from the Roman government,
economic prosperity, and social justice by
practicing righteousness.
This was the beauty they saw in Jesus.
They believed that He would free them from Roman
rule (political liberation),
bring economic prosperity, and establish social
justice.
This was the beauty they envisioned in Jesus.
However, what was the beauty that God the Father
saw
in "My beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased," Jesus Christ?
It was His obedience to the will of the Father
unto death (Phil. 2:8).
This is the beauty of Jesus Christ as seen by
God the Father.
We should emulate this beauty of Jesus.
As Christians, we should follow the example of
Jesus
and obediently submit to the will of the Lord
even unto death.
This is the beauty of us as Christians.
