여호와의 기름 부음을 받은 자 다윗은 사울 왕에게 좇겨 도망다니고 있었을 때 하나님께서 금하신 하나님의 기름 부음을 받은 사울 왕의 옷자락을 벰으로 마음이 찔렸습니다 ( 삼상 24:4-6). 다윗 왕은 아들 압살롬에게 쫓겨 도망다니고 있었을 때 사울의 친족인 시므이가 계속해서 하나님의 기름 부으신 자신을 저주하였음에도 불구하고 죽어야 마땅하지만 죽이지 않았습니다 ( 삼하 16:5-13, 19:21-23). 그러나 다윗 왕은 시므이를 무죄한 자로 여긴 것은 아니었습니다 ( 왕상 2:9).
