The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 100세 시대를 준비해야 ...
어느 미국 목사님의 설교를 들어보니 이 미국에 100세 이상 된 분들이 약 12,000명 정도라고 합니다. 이렇게 우리가 오래 살 수 있다는 전제 아래 저는 그 목사님이 성경에 나오는 '갈렙'에 대하여 말씀한 내용 중 동의하고 공감하는 점 몇 가지를 적어 봅니다:
1.
나이가 많아도 주님의 일을 할 수 있습니다.
(갈렙은 85세 때 헤브론을 정복, 모세는 80세 때 하나님의 부르심을 받아 이스라엘 백성들을 애굽에서 인도해 내어 광야에서 40년, 제 아버님은 82세이신데도 지금도 선교하고 계심)
2. 주님의 일에는 결코 은퇴가 없습니다.
(비록 각자 일하고 있는데서는 은퇴가 있지만 은퇴한 후에도 주님의 일을 함에 있어서는은퇴가 없음)
3. 육체적으로 건강해야 합니다.
(갈렙은 40세 때나 85세 때에나 육체적으로 건강하고 힘이 있어서 전쟁을 할 수 있었음, 은퇴 없이 주님의 일을 하기 위해선 건강관리를 잘해야 함)
4. 정신력이 강해야 합니다.
(정신력과 의지가 강한 어르신들은 육신의 연약함도 극복하심)
5. 강하고 담대한 믿음이 있어야 합니다.
(하나님의 약속의 말씀을 굳건히 믿고 기도하며 선포하며 하나님께 나아가면서 주님의 인도하심 따라 열심히 주님의 일을 함.)
