속이는 자들의 속도는 이렇게 무시무시한 것 같습니다 . 아버지 이삭으로부터 " 이제 나는 늙어 언제 죽을지도 모른다 . 그러니 너는 활을 가지고 들로 나가서 사냥하여 내가 좋아하는 별미를 만들어 오너라 . 내가 그것을 먹고 죽기 전에 너에게 마지막으로 축복해 주겠다 " 라는 말씀을 듣고 사냥하러 나간 에서는 능숙한 사냥꾼이었으므로 그리 오랜 시간이 걸려서 사냥하지 않았을 것입니다 . 그런데 그가 사냥을 하고 돌아왔을 때는 이미 야곱이 아버지를 속여서 축복을 받고 이삭 앞에서 나갔었습니다 ( 창세기 25:27; 27:2-4, 30, 현대인의 성경 ). 성경은 " 이삭이 야곱에게 축복하기를 마치매 야곱이 그의 아버지 이삭 앞에서 나가자 곧 그의 형 에서가 사냥하여 돌아온지라 " 고 말씀하고 있습니다 (30 절 ).
