\ Chapter 8: Emptying “Hatred” In the previous chapter, we examined how we must empty ourselves of “falsehood,” which hides or alters the truth for our own benefit. Now, in Chapter 8, we will examine another sin that deeply destroys our hearts and relationships: “hatred.” As we go through life, we are wounded. Sometimes we are betrayed by those close to us. Sometimes we experience injustice or feel that we have not been loved. At times, someone’s words or actions stir deep anger within us. Being wounded is not itself a sin. Feeling pain and anger when we have been treated unjustly can be a natural response. The problem is how we deal with that wound and anger. If we continue holding on to the wound, hating the other person, wishing for that person’s downfall, and nurturing the desire to repay them for what they have done to us, hatred will eventually begin to rule our hearts. “성도들”(골1:2)이란
거듭난 신자들로서 원어 헬라어의 문자적 의미는 ‘분리된 사람들’(separated
ones)입니다. 성경적으로 말한다면, “성도들”이란 ‘거룩하게 구별된 사람들’을 가리킵니다. 즉, 성도들이란 하나님께
구별된 사람들로서 하나님께서 세상으로부터 구별(분리)시킨 사람들입니다(The
saints are separated to God, separated by God, and separated from the
world). 달리 설명하자면, 성도들이란 하나님의 목적(God’s purpose)과
하나님의 일(God’s service)을 위하여 하나님께 구별된 사람들입니다(KJV
성경 주석). 성경을 보면 성도들은 하나님을 사랑하는 진실한 자들이요(시31:23), 예수님의 증인들이요(계17:6), 하나님을 찬송하며 하나님의
거룩한 이름에 감사하는 자들이요(시30:4), 기도하는 자들이요(계5:8), “옳은 행실”을 하는 자들이요(계19:8),
하나님의 계명과 예수님에 대한 믿음을 지키는 자들이요(계14:12),
영광 중에 즐거워하는 자들(시149:5)이라고
말씀하고 있습니다.
