Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. Jesus' Response to Peter's Action: (a) Jesus said: “Permit even this.” ( Luke 22:51, KJV: “Suffer ye thus far”; RSV: “No more of this” ) The Greek words clarify this: “ἕως τούτου” (“heōs toutou”) = “up to this point” or “even this” “ἐᾶτε” (“eate”) = “allow it,” “let it be,” “leave it alone” Therefore, Jesus is essentially saying: “Let them do what they are doing. 기독교를 영 잘못 알고 있습니다. 많은 기독교인들이 기독교는 알고 행하는 문제라 생각하고 있는데 그것은 크게 잘못 알고 있는 것입니다. 기독교는 하나님께서 우리를 위해 무엇인가를 해주시는 것입니다. 즉, 하나님께서 우리를 사랑해 주시는 것입니다. 하나님께서 우리를 구원해 주시는 것입니다. 기독교는 하나님께서 우리를 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자 예수님을 저주의 나무인 십자가에 못박혀 죽게하시고(요 3:16) 무덤에서 다시 살아나게 하시사(고전 15장) 우리의 모든 죄를 사해주시고 우리를 의롭다하신 것입니다(롬 4:25). 그 구원자 예수님을 믿고 그 주님께 순종하며 살아가는 것이 기독교인의 삶이 되야합니다.
