The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 감사하다. 드디어 사랑하는 아내가 100 miles (163 km) trail run (산악 마라톤)을 완주했다. 그것도 30시간 안에 완주해야 할 것을 26시간 36분에 (아내의 목표는 27시간이었는데) ... 그런데 이 사실보다 더 마음에 하나님께 감사드리는 것은 아내가 참 아름다운 경주였고(beautiful beautiful race) 또한 감사하다(greatful)고 말했기 때문이다.
이번 아내의 경주를 통해 나는 신앙의 경주에 중요하다고 생각되는 3가지를 생각하게 되었다:
1. Train: 아내가 준비 훈련을 많이 했다. 100 마일을 뛰기 위해서 아내 나름대로 계획을 세워서 열심히 그리고 부지런히 자기 자신을 훈련시킨 것처럼 신앙의 경주를 완주하기 위해선 훈련(또는 단련)이 필요하다고 생각된다.
2. Crew: 아내가 경주를 함에 있어서 도와주는 사람들이 있었다. 그 중에 한 미국 아주머니는 아내의 crew member로서 아내가 달리기를 할 때 그 때 그 때 아내가 필요한 energy drink 등을 아내에게 주는 역활 등을 한 것 같다. 그 장시간을 앉아서 식사를 할 수 있는 것도 아니고 잠을 자는 것도 아니기에 ... 신앙의 경주도 도와주는 사람이 있어야 한다
3. Pace-runner: 아내가 60 miles은 혼자 뛰었지만 나머지 40 miles은 함께 뛰어준 사람이 있었다. 그 사람은 아내의 마라톤 친구로서 그 친구가 더 힘든 100 miles 마라톤을 했을 때 아내가 그 친구의 pace-runners 2 사람 중에 한 사람이었다(마지막 40 miles을 아내가 20 miles을 함께 옆에서 뛰어줬고 다른 사람이 20 miles을...). 신앙의 경주에도 나랑 함께 옆에서 뛰어주는 사람(들)이 있어야 한다.
