배우 조정자의 꾀에 넘어가지 말아야 할텐데 ... 민수기 25 장에 나오는 브올에서 이스라엘 백성이 모압 여자들과 음행을 하고 그녀들과 함께 그녀들의 신들에게 절하는 우상숭배의 악한 죄를 범한 이야기만 보면 민수기 22-24 장에 나오는 발람하고 아무 연관이 없어 보인다 . 그러나 민수기 31 장을 보면 이스라엘 백성이 브올의 사건으로 하나님께 범죄하게 한 사람들이 미디안 여자들이요 그 여자들이 " 발람은 꾀 " 을 따랐다고 모세는 말했다 (31:15-16). 그런데 요한계시록 2 장 14 절을 보면 주님께서는 " 발람이 발락을 가르쳐 이스라엘 자손 앞에 걸림돌을 놓아 우상의 제물을 먹게 하였고 또 행음하게 하였느니라 " 고 말씀하셨다 ( 계 2:14). 브올에서 이스라엘 백성이 음행과 우상숭배의 죄를 범한 브올의 사건 뒤에는 발람의 꾀와 가르침이 있었다 . 발람이야말로 이스라엘의 걸림돌이었다 . 그가 배우 조정자였다 . 결국 발람은 하나님께서 모세에게 이스라엘 자손의 원수를 미디안에게 갚으라고 명령하신대로 칼로 죽임을 당했다 ( 민 31:2, 7-8).
