살인적 질투
사울 왕이 다윗을 질투의 눈으로 바라보기 시작했을 때(삼상 18:9) 그는 다윗을 두려워했습니다. 그 이유는 하나님께서 자기를 떠나 다윗과 함께 계시는 줄 알았기 때문입니다(12절). 그래서 사울 왕은 다윗을 하여금 자기 곁에서 떠나게 했습니다(13절). 하나님께서 다윗과 함께 계시므로 다윗이 모든 일을 지혜롭게 행하는 것을 보고 사울 왕은 다윗을 두려워했습니다(14-15절). 특히 온 이스라엘과 유다와(16절) 심지어 자기 딸 미갈도 다윗을 사랑하는 것을 보고(20, 28절) 사울 왕은 다윗을 더욱더욱 두려워서 평생 다윗의 대적이 되었습니다(29절). 그래서 사울 왕은 아들 요나단이 보기에도 "까닭없이" 다윗을 죽여 무죄한 피를 흘리려고 했습니다(19:5).
질투는 까닭없이 상대방을 싫어하게 만들고 미워하게 만들어 멀리하게 만들며 심지어 죽이고 싶은 마음까지 들게 만들어 살인을 시도하게까지 만듭니다. 그리고 죽이기까지 합니다. 이것이 바로 '살인적 질투'입니다.
