우리는 먼저 하나님과의 사귐이 헌신해야 합니다(수직적인 사귐) (요한일서 1:6).  다시 말하면, 우리는 먼저 아버지 하나님과 그의 아들 예수 그리스도와의 사귐에(3) 헌신해야 합니다.  그리할 우리에게는 서로의 사귐이 있습니다(수평적인 사귐) (3, 7).   이중 사귐에 중요한 것은 " 교제"입니다(사도행전 2:42 - 한국 성경엔 "교제"라고 써있지만 원어 헬라어를 보면 정관사가 "교제" 단어 앞에 있음).  여기서 " 교제" 성령님의 교제를 말합니다.  그러므로 이중 사귐에 있어서 매우 중요한 것은 성령님께서 성부, 성자 하나님과의 관계에서 진리를 함께 나누게(공유케)하시고 또한 주님 안에서 우리로 하여금 진리를 서로에게 주는 (분유하는 )입니다(사도행전 2:42 나오는 "교제"(원어 헬라어: 디아코니아) 의미는 공유와 분유임).   이중 사귐에 있어서 중요한 것은 거짓말을 하지 않고 진리를 행하는 것입니다(요한일서 1:6).
