A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. 어제 주일 오전에 홍대 근처에 있는 숙소를 나와 하나님께 예배를 드리러 남양주에 있는 겸비 교회(친구 목사님에게 말도 않하고 깜짝 놀래주려고)를 가는데 길가에 토한 것을 두 번이나 보았고 또한 지하철 역에서 실제로 어떤 사람이 토하는 것 같아보였습니다. 저는 그 모습들을 보면서 '지저분하다'라는 생각과 더불어 좀 구역질이 날 것 같아 속히 그 자리를 피했습니다. 그리고 나서 친구 목사님이 섬기는 겸비 교회에 가서 찬양 시간에 "내가 주인 삼은 모든 것 내려놓고 내 주 되신 주 앞에 나가 내가 사랑했던 모든 것 내려놓고 주님만 사랑해"라고 하나님께 찬양을 드리는데 마음이 뭉클하고 눈물이 흘러 나왔습니다. 그 이유는 제가 본 그 토한 것이 생각나면서 그것이 제 마음이라는 양심에 찔림이 있었기 때문이었습니다. 제가 제 자신의 마음을 보아도 지저분하고 구역질이 날 정도래서 피하고 싶을 정도로 보기가 싫었습니다. 그래서 저는 주님 앞에 그러한 제 마음을 회개하지 못하고(회개할 능력조차 제 자신에게 없기에) 내려놓지 못하고 있는 제 모습 그대로 예수 그리스도의 십자가에 흘리신 보배로운 피를 의지할 수밖에 없었습니다.
