Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. "어부"였던 사도 베드로(4:18), 예수님께서는 그를 삼년간 데리고 다니시면서 "사람을 낚는 어부"가 되게 하시고자 '제자훈련'(?)을 시키셨습니다.  그런데 이렇게 삼년간 제자훈련을 받았던 베드로는 십자가에 죽으시고 부활하신 예수님의 빈 무덤(20:6-7)과 제자들 가운데 두 번이나 나타나신 부활하신 예수님을 보고도(19-29"나는 물고기 잡으로 가노라"하고 다시금 본업인 어부로 돌아갔습니다(21:3).  이러한 사람에게도 예수님께서는 세 번째 나타나셔(14세 번 '네가 나를 사랑하느냐' 질문하시고 그에게 사명을 주셨습니다: "내 양을 먹이라"/"내 양을 치라"(15-17).
