"어부"였던 사도 베드로(마4:18), 예수님께서는 그를 삼년간 데리고 다니시면서 "사람을 낚는 어부"가 되게 하시고자 '제자훈련'(?)을 시키셨습니다. 그런데 이렇게 삼년간 제자훈련을 받았던 베드로는 십자가에 죽으시고 부활하신 예수님의 빈 무덤(요20:6-7)과 제자들 가운데 두 번이나 나타나신 부활하신 예수님을 보고도(19-29절) "나는 물고기 잡으로 가노라"하고 다시금 본업인 어부로 돌아갔습니다(21:3). 이러한 사람에게도 예수님께서는 세 번째 나타나셔(14절) 세 번 '네가 나를 사랑하느냐' 질문하시고 그에게 사명을 주셨습니다: "내 양을 먹이라"/"내 양을 치라"(15-17절).
