어쩌면 하나님께서는 우리로 하여금 고통의 사슬과 환난의 줄에 매이게 하여 우리의 교만하게 행한 일과 잘못을 보여 주시고 우리에게 경고의 말씀을 듣게 하여 죄악에서 돌아서게 하시려는지도 모르겠습니다(참고: 욥기 36:8-10, 현대인의 성경).
