Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. 하나님의 말씀을 들은 욥은 나 같이 보잘 것 없는 자가 주께 무엇이라고 대답하겠습니까?  다만 손으로 내 입을 가릴 뿐입니다.  나는 이미 너무 많은 말을 하였습니다라고 대답했습니다(욥기 40:3-5, 현대인의 성경).  전도서 52-3절 말씀이 생각났습니다: “너는 하나님 앞에서 함부로 입을 열지 말며 급한 마음으로 말을 내지 말라 하나님은 하늘에 계시고 너는 땅에 있음이니라 그런즉 마땅히 말을 적게 할 것이라 걱정이 많으면 꿈이 생기고 말이 많으면 우매한 자의 소리가 나타나느니라.”
