The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 세상은 아름답습니다.
오늘 약 28-9년 전 같은 중학교를 다녔던 중학 동창 두 형제를 만나 함께 저녁 식사를 하면서 대화를 나눴습니다. 오랫 만에 만났음에도 불구하고 어색함이 없이 편안하고 자연스럽게 이런 저런 대화를 나눴습니다. 식당이 문닫을 때가 지나서 비록 시간 가는 줄 모르고 대화하다가 헤어졌지만 저는 차를 몰로 집으로 오면서 '세상은 아름답다'라는 생각이 들었습니다. 그래서 이렇게 집에 오자마자 주님 안에서 글을 적어 내려가는 것입니다:
세상은 아름답습니다.
세상은 아름답습니다.
그 이유는 주님 안에서 만남이 있기 때문입니다.
세상은 아름답습니다.
그 이유는 주님을 사랑하는 형제들의 만남이 있기 때문입니다.
세상은 아름답습니다.
그 이유는 주님께 헌신한 형제들의 모습을 보기 때문입니다.
세상은 아름답습니다.
그 이유는 주님의 몸된 교회를 향한 고통을 느끼는 형제가 있기
때문입니다. 영어권이 2세 지체들을
향하여 아픔을 가진 형제의 모습을 보기에 세상은 아름답습니다.
세상은 아름답습니다.
그 이유는 주님의 복음을 전파하고자 선교에 헌신한 형제가 있기
때문입니다. 아이 둘과 5월에 태어날
아기와 함께 10월에 장기 선교 나아가는 형제의 모습을 보기에 세상은 아름답습니다.
세상은 아름답습니다.
그 이유는 형제들의 모습 속에서 작은 예수님을 보기에
세상은 아름답습니다.
