Chapter 11: Emptying “Grumbling” In the previous chapter, we looked at the life of emptying ourselves of sexual immorality and wrongful desires and turning our love back toward God. Now, in Chapter 11, we will look at another problem that easily settles into our hearts and onto our lips. It is a grumbling heart. As we go through life, there are many moments when we grumble. “Why did this happen to me?” “Why does that person treat me this way?” “Why is my family going through such a difficult time?” “Why is the church like this?” “Why did God allow this?” Even when we do not speak these words aloud, we may repeat them countless times in our hearts. But in the Bible, grumbling is not merely a matter of uttering a few complaints. 짧은 말씀 묵상
“좋은 음식은 맛을 보면 알듯이 지혜 있는 말도 들어 보면 압니다”(욥기 34:3, 현대인의 성경).
“전능하신 하나님은 악을 행하는 일도 없으시고 그릇된 일을 행하는
일도 없으십니다. … 그러므로 전능하신 하나님이 악을 행하시고 공정치 못하다는
것은 감히 생각할 수도 없는 일”입니다(욥기 34:10,
12, 현대인의 성경).
만일 하나님이 뜻을 정하시고 우리의 영과 목숨을 거두시면 우리는 한밤중에도
순식간에 죽으며 흙으로 돌아갈 것입니다(참고: 욥기 34:14-15,
20).
“하나님은 모든 사람의 행동을 세심히 지켜보고 계시기 때문에 악을
행하는 자가 숨을 만한 흑암이나 그늘이 있을 수 없습니다”(욥기 34:21-22, 현대인의 성경).
만일 우리가 하나님을 떠나고 하나님의 모든 명령을 무시하면(참고: 욥기 34:27, 현대인의 성경),
하나님께서는 우리의 유익을 위해 우리를 사랑으로 징계하시며 하나님의 거룩하심에 참여하게 하십니다(참고: 히브리서 12:10, 현대인의 성경).
악한 자들이 가난한 자들을 억울하게 할 때 그 가난한 자들은 하나님께
부르짖지 않을 수 없습니다. 그리할 때 하나님은
그 고통당하는 자들의 부르짖음을 들으십니다(참고: 욥기 34:28,
현대인의 성경).
주님께서 침묵하신다고 누가 그분을 정죄할 수 있겠습니까! (참고: 욥기 34:29)
만일 우리가 하나님 아버지께 사랑의 징계를 받는다면 우리는 욥처럼
“내가 깨닫지 못하는 것을 가르쳐주소서. 만일 내가 잘못한 것이 있으면 다시는 그렇게 하지 않겠습니다”라고 기도하면 어떨까요?
