The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 말씀으로 천지를 창조하신 성부 하나님(창세기 1장)께서는 불순종과 죄 때문에 영적으로 죽었던 우리들(에베소서 2:1, 현대인의 성경)을 그저 '다시 살아나라'(거듭나라! 중생하라!)고 말씀만 하셨어도(참고: 마태복음 8:8, 현대인의 성경) 우리가 영적으로 다시 살아나(거듭나, 중생하여) 영원한 생명을 주실 수 있으셨음에도 불구하고 말씀이신 독생자 예수 그리스도(요한복음 1:1)를 이 땅에 보내시고 결국 십자가에 죽게하시므로 우리를 다시 살리시고 우리에게 영원한 생명을 주셨습니다.
