The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. 마음과 마음이 이어지는 관계
사랑 하는 형제, 자매와 주님 안에서의 관계를 세워나아감에 있어서 매우 중요한 요서는 겸손(humility)과 정직(honesty)과 연약함(vulnerability)입니다. 주님과의 관계에서 겸손하고 정직하며 연약함이 있는 자가 사랑하는 형제, 자매와의 관계에서도 겸손하고 정직하며 연약함이 있을 수 있습니다. 여기서 연약함(vulnerability)이란 겸손히 정직하게 내 마음 문을 열고 내 연약함(취약함)을 진솔하게 상대방 형제, 자매에게 나눌 때에 나 자신이 상처받기 쉬움을 말합니다. 만일 우리가 상대방 형제, 자매에게 상처를 입을 것을 염려하든지 두려워하면 우리는 그 형제, 자매 앞에서 연약할 수가(vulnerable) 없고 또한 주님 안에서 마음과 마음이 이어지는 깊은 교제를 나눌 수가 없습니다(그저 표면적인 교제만). 우리가 상대방 앞에서도 연약할 수(vulnerable) 있기 위해선, 그리고 상처 입는 것을 두려워하지 않기 위해선 먼저 주님과의 친밀한 교제 가운데 주님의 관점으로 나 자신을 보므로 나 자신의 가치 있음(worthiness)을 알아야 합니다. 그리할 때 우리는 주님 안에서 자존감(confidence)을 가질 수 있고, 그리할 때 우리는 용기(courage)를 내어 상대방 앞에서 연약할 수(vulnerable)가 있습니다. 그리할 때 우리는 우리 마음 문을 열고 주님 앞에서 겸손하며 정직하게 우리 자신을 나눈 것을 사랑하는 형제, 자매에게도 나눌 수가 있습니다. 그리할 때 우리는 서로 공감할 수 있고, 체휼할 수 있으면 마음과 마음이 이어지는 대화를 나눌 수가 있습니다.
