A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. 우리는 하나님 앞에서 침묵하는 법을 배워야 합니다. 헨리 나우웬은 그의 책 “마음의 길”(The Way of Heart)란 책에서 침묵에 관하여 이런 말을 하였습니다: 우리 목사들이 “… 교회은 모든 조직적인 활동을 지도함에 있어서 가장 관심을 가져야 할 문제는 어떻게 사람들을 분주하게 하느냐가 아니라, 그들이 침묵 속에서 말씀하시는 하나님의 음성을 들을 수 있도록 어떻게 분주하지 않게 하느냐는 것이다”. 우리는 너무나 분주하게 살아가고 있습니다. 특히 우리 마음이 너무 분주합니다. 어느 정도로 우리 마음이 분주합니까? 하나님 앞에서 잠잠히 그의 음성을 들을 여유도 없을 정도로 너무나 다른 일들에 마음이 분주합니다. 우리는 이사야 선지자가 이사야 30장 15절에서 말씀하시는 것을 들어야 할 것입니다: “… 잠잠하고 신뢰하여야 힘을 얻을 것이어늘 …”(in quietness and trust is your strength). 하나님을 잠잠히 신뢰하는 것이 바로 우리의 힘이라는 말씀을 우리는 들어야 합니다.
