“권면”이란 ‘간곡한 권고,
장려, 격려, 위로’란 뜻 입니다. 빌립보서 2장 1절을 보면 “그러므로 그리스도 안에 무슨 권면이나 …”라고 말씀하고 있습니다.
여기서
“권면”이란 ‘신자들의 믿음을 견고케하며 확고히 하는 목적으로 간곡히 권고 (장려)하던지 책망(경고)하던지 또는 격려(위로) 하는
것을 의미합니다(주석). 사도 바울이 빌립보 교회 성도들에게 그리스도 안에서 간절히
구하는 것, 즉 그가 간곡히 권고한 것은 바로 ‘마음을
같이하라’입니다(2절). 여기서 ‘마음을 같이 하라’는 말씀은 “한 마음”을 말씀합니다(1:27). 즉, 바울은 빌립보 교회 성도들에게 한 마음을 품으라고 그리스도 안에서 권면/간곡히 권고한
것입니다. 그 이유는 그것이 바로
교회가 그리스도의 복음에 합당하게 생활하는 것이기 때문입니다(27절).
