The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. 그리도 훌륭한 주님의 종인 사사요 선지자요 제사장이었던 사무엘에게 "아버지의 행위를 따르지 아니하고 이익을 따라 뇌물을 받고 판결을 굽게 하"는 두 아들이 있었습니다(삼상 8:3). 그 결과 이스라엘 백성들은 "모든 나라와 같이 우리에게 왕을 세워 우리를 다스리게" 해 달라고 말했습니다(5절). "사무엘"이란 이름의 뜻대로 어머니 한나의 간절한 기도로 태어난 사무엘인데, 젖을 뗀후 어린 아이 때부터 하나님의 성전에서 자라났던 사무엘인데 분명히 자기 두아들을 위하여 하나님께 간구하면서 그 두 자녀를 하나님의 말씀으로 양육했을텐데 ... 사무엘도 자녀 농사가 마음대로 안된 듯 해보입니다.
