The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. 육신의 지배를 받았을 때와 성령님의 지배를 받고 있을 때
전에 우리가 육신의 지배를 받을 때에는 율법에 의해 일어난 죄의 욕망(the sinful passion) 또는 악한 욕망(evil desires)이 우리 안에 작용하여 죽음에 이르는 열매를 맺었습니다(롬 6:12; 7:5, 현대인의 성경). 그러나 이제 우리가 성령님의 지배를 받으므로 성령님으로 살면서 또한 성령님으로 행합니다(갈 5:25). 이제 우리는 성령님의 새로운 것으로 하나님을 섬기게 되었습니다(롬 7:6). 이제 우리는 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 되었습니다(6:4). 우리가 육신의 지배를 받고 있었을 때에는 육체의 욕망을 따라 육체을 일을 했습니다(갈5:19). 그 육체의 일이란 곧 음행과 더러운 것과 호색과 우상 숭배와 주술과 원수 맺는 것과 분쟁과 시기와 분냄과 당 짓는 것과 분열함과 이단과 투기와 술 취함과 방탕함과 또 그와 같은 것들입니다(19-21절). 그러나 이제 우리가 성령님의 지배를 받으므로(22절, 현대인의 성경) 성령님이 원하시는데로 육체의 욕망과 정반대되는 삶을 살고 있습니다(17절, 현대인의 성경). 이제 우리는 성령님의 열매를 맺습니다. 그 성령님의 열매란 사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 자비와 양선과 충성과 온유와 절제입니다(22-23절).
