100세의 늙은 사람이었고 자기 부인 사라도 너무 나이가 많아 늙고 갱년기도 지났었기 때문입니다. 이러한 아브라함과 사라에게 하나님은 믿음을 주셔서 아브라함의
후손이 별들처럼 많을 것임을 그 부부로 하여금 하나님의 약속을 믿게 하셨습니다. 성경은 하나님은 언약의 하나님이시라고 말씀하고 있습니다(2절). 하나님은 아브라함과
언약을 맺으셨습니다. 하나님께서는 그에게
약속을 하셨고 그는 하나님에게 책임을 감당했습니다. 그리했을 때 그는 죽은 사람이나 다름없는 늙은 100세의 나이에 믿음으로 잉태할 수 있는 힘을
얻었습니다. 성경은 하나님은 신실하신
하나님이시라고 말씀하고 있습니다(히11:11). 사라는 너무 늙어 아기를 낳을 수 없었지만 믿음으로 임신하게
되었는데 그 이유는 그녀는 약속하신 하나님이 신실하신 줄 알았기 때문입니다(11절). 우리도 우리 하나님이 신실하신 줄 알고 믿음으로 신실하신
하나님께 기도해야 합니다.
