The Second Blessing of the Beatitudes : Those Who Hunger and Thirst for God’s Righteousness Will Be Satisfied by God’s Salvation! “Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied …” ( Luke 6:21a ) I would like to receive the lessons given through meditating on this word: (1) I would like to receive the lessons given as I meditate on the first half of Luke 6:21, the second blessing of the Beatitudes, in connection with Matthew 5:6 , which says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” (a) Here, the phrase “those who hunger” comes from the Greek word πεινῶντες (peinōntes), which is used as a present participle. 애굽 왕이 지혜롭게 하자고 한 것이 번성하고 매우 강한 이스라엘 백성들을 학대하되 그들에게 무거운 짐을 지게하고 어려운 노동을 하게하므로 그들을 괴롭게 한 것입니다(출 1:7, 10, 11, 12,14). 그러나 하나님께서는 애굽 왕의 헛된 지혜도 사용하시사 고된 노동으로 말미암아 이스라엘 백성들로 하여금 부르짖게 하셨습니다(2:23). 그리고 하나님께서는 그들의 고통의 소리를 들으시고 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 세우신 그의 언약을 기억하셨습니다(24절). 하나님께서는 이스라엘 자손을 돌보셨고 그들을 기억하셨습니다(25절).
괴로울 때 주님께 부르짖으므로 주님으로부터 기도 응답을 받아 고통 가운데서 건짐을 받길 기원합니다.
인간의 헛된 지혜조차도 하나님의 주권적인 지혜 안에 있습니다.
