The reason that even death cannot separate us from the love of Christ

is that Jesus Christ, who is eternal life, gave us eternal life according to the Scriptures

by laying down his life on the cross and rising again from death according to the Scriptures

(Rom. 8:35; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; 1 Jn. 1:1-2; 3:16).
