The blessing of eternal
life.
Do you believe that if you only believe in our
Lord,
you will receive salvation and the crown of
eternal life without fail?
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life.”
When we believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son of
God,
we are reconciled with God and through the
guidance of the Holy Spirit,
we enter into intimate fellowship with God the
Father and His Son Jesus Christ (17:3),
participating in the sanctifying work of the
Holy Spirit (2 Pet. 1:4),
which enables us to partake in the divine nature
and become more like Jesus Christ.
As citizens of heaven (Phil. 3:20), we
experience a taste of heavenly joy
even on this earth by obeying Jesus Christ's
double commandment of
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind'
and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself' (Jn. 3:36;
Mt. 22:37, 39),
thus living a life of salvation even now (Phil. 2:12).
Although we currently live in a world without
peace,
we can still enjoy the partial blessings of
eternal life,
such as God's peace, while living on this earth.
As expressed in Hymn “When Peace, Like a River,
Atthendeth My Way,”
we can praise God with faith, saying,
“When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When
sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, ‘It
is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul; It is well, it is well
with my soul.’”
