짧은 말씀 묵상
욥은 그의 친구들을 가리켜 “너희는 다 재난을 주는 위로자들”이라고 말했습니다. 욥의 입장에서 그들은 “너희는 모두 나를 위로하러 온 것이 아니라 오히려 나를 괴롭히려고 온 자들이”었습니다. 욥이 보기에 그들은 헛된 말을 끝없이 했습니다. 그들은 욥의 입장에서 말하기보다 자기들 입장에서 그럴 듯한
말로 욥을 괴롭히고 욥을 향해 머리를 흔들었습니다. 그들은 욥에게 도움이 되는 말을 하지 않고 결코 욥을 위로하거나 슬픔을 덜어주지 못했습니다(욥기 16:2-5, 현대인의 성경). 오히려 욥의 친구들은 욥을 조롱했습니다(20절, 현대인의 성경). 우리는 이런 친구를 조심하고 함부로 믿지 말아야 합니다(예레미야 9:4, 현대인의 성경). 우리에게는 변함없이 우리를 사랑하여 위급할 때 돕는 친구가
있어야 합니다(잠언 17:17, 현대인의 성경).
어떠한 고난과 고통이 있다 할지라도, 심지어 죽음의 그늘이 있다 할지라도, 우리의 기도는 순수해야 합니다(참고: 욥기 16:17, 현대인의 성경).
의롭게 살며 마음이 깨끗한 자는 어떠한 고난 가운데서도 계속 착실하게
살므로 점점 힘을 얻게 될 것입니다(참고: 욥기 17:9,

우리에게 좋은 시절은 다 지나가고 우리의 희망도 사라졌으며 우리의
마음의 소원도 좌절되고 말았을 때에도(욥기17:11, 현대인의 성경)
우리는 주님이 우리의 소망인줄 믿고(시편 71:5) 의지하여 더욱더 주님을 갈망해야 합니다(시편42:1, 현대인의 성경). 오직
주님을 소망으로 삼는 사람은 새 힘을 얻을 것입니다(이사야 40:31, 새번역).
